Menjangan Island Information


Menjangan is a small island, located 5 miles to the north-west of Bali Island and is part of the Indonesian archipelago. “Menjangan” was taken from Kawi (Ancient Java Language) which means “Deer”. The name was given by the local people observing wild deer herds swimming to the island every spring and covering a distance of approx 1.2 miles. The island is a significant part of Bali Barat National Park. To get this island, you must take 3 hours from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to Banyuwedang Bay in Jembrana Regency. It takes 50 minutes to get Menjangan Island use boat.

The Variety of Fauna and Flora


The habitat is very varied with rainforest, dry savanna, acacia scrub and lowland forests. There are also some places of dense mangrove forest. In the north of the park there is an obvious north jutting peninsula called Prapat Agung. Around this peninsula, there are long stretches of white clean sandy beach and nice offshore coral reef, as a small offshore island called Menjangan. This is a very popular diving destination.

Diving Spot


According to Discovery News, Menjangan Island entered into 10 best snorkeling spots in the World. This island is the first and the best diving spot in Bali. The island is considered to be an important part of the local tourism industry, because its marine fauna incorporates one of the best-preserved coral reefs in the area. All scuba-diving shops arrange daily trips to the island.
